Six women die in cracker unit fire near Madurai
Fire accident in cracker factory at M Sengulam near Madurai claimed life of six women happened at Rajlaxmi Fireworks. The unit was licensed for making verities like walas, Chakkras & flower pots. Violating the conditions it was manufacturing variety crackers in sheds and even under tree, again severe violation of law. A chemical required for manufacturing cracker caught fire due to friction.
Five women were injured and brought to Rajaji Hospital and later they died.
On being alerted fire & rescue services from Virdhunagar & Tirumangalam fire stations rushed to the place of incident. Police is carrying investigation regarding the issue.
Chief Minister Palaniswami expressed grief over horrific incident and declared compensation of 2 lakh to each family.
