Rajkot hospital blaze 'shocking', a wakeup call for action
Supreme Court took cognizance of hospital fire at Rajkot, Gujrat claiming lives of 5 patients, calling it wakeup call for serious action to prevent such incidents.
Bench headed by Justice Ashok Bhushan comprising justices Subhash Reddy & M.R. Shah expressed anguish over the incident and said there can’t be just enquiry and report. Citing fire incident as wakeup call. The bench said te fire safety issues in hospitals cannot be addressed by merely appointing committees and tabulating reports rather responsibility of such incident must be fixed.
Rajkot Hospital dedicated to Covid-19 patients caught fire and 5 patients in ICU died in the incident.
