Levana Hotel Fire Case: from six department 15 officials suspended
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has suspended 15 officials from six government department have been suspended for their negligence of their duty which led hotel fire tragedy engulfing 4 precious lives.
The action will also be initiated against four retired officers for their negligence and irregularities.
The action is taken after submitting two members panel report which was submitted.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister ordered strict action against the officials who were prima facie irregular and negligent in the incident fire at Hotel Levana in Lucknow. According to the instructions of the Chief Minister, departmental action will be instituted against the officers of the Home Department, Energy Department, Appointment Department, Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) and Excise Department by suspending them. Action will be taken against the retired officers in light of the prevailing rules of the departments concerned.
The concerned departments have been directed to suspend the officials and to institute departmental proceedings and take action against retired officers as per rules in the light of the prevailing rules.
The Home Department suspended officials are Sushil Yadav (fire officer), Yogendra Prasad (fire officer-second), Vijay Kumar Singh (Chief Fire Officer) and action would also be taken against retired chief fire officer, Abhaynath Pandey.
Energy department suspended officials are Vijay Kumar Rao, Assistant Director (Electrical Safety); Ashish Kumar Mishra (Junior Engineer) and Rajesh Kumar Mishra (Sub-Divisional Officer).
Mahendra Kumar Mishra, are from LDA., has also been put under suspension from the appointments department. Other LDA officers suspended are the then assistant engineer Rakesh Mohan, junior engineer Jitendra Nath Dubey, junior engineer Ravindra Kumar Srivastava, junior engineer Jaiveer Singh, and another officer Ram Pratap. Retired executive engineer Arun Kumar Singh, retired executive engineer Om Prakash Mishra and retired junior engineer Ganeshi Dutt Singh of the LDA department are also in the list.
Action has been ordered against then Lucknow district excise officer Santosh Kumar Tiwari, excise inspector sector-1 in Lucknow Amit Kumar Srivastava and deputy excise commissioner of Lucknow Division Jainendra Upadhyay from the Excise Department.
As per report six departments were held responsible for negligence including Lucknow Development Authority (LDA), Lucknow Electricity Supply Administration (LESA), District Administration, Fire Services, Lucknow Municipal Corporation and Excise Department .
Report also mentions a list of illegally-built hotels in Lucknow and suggests action against hotels running flouting the guidelines.
Lucknow Police registered an FIR and detained the owners and general manager of Hotel Levana.
