E-bike showroom fire breaks out engulfed hotel in Secundrabad: 8 dead

Secundrabad: A fierce fire broke out in Ruby Motors, a e-bike showroom that engulfed Ruby Pride Luxury Hotel, near passport office in Secundrabad, Talengana. It is suspected suspect that the fire occurred due to an explosion either in an electrical scooter or a generator in the Ruby Motors showroom which is on the ground floor of the building.

The fire occurred at around 10 am. The showroom was at the cellar (where explosion occurred) and hotel was on the top five floor having 28 rooms. 25 guests were present at the time of incident. The owners of Ruby Motors Rajendra Singh Bugga & Sumeet Singh were running e-bike showroom illegally.

Eight guests including one woman succumbed to suffocation & 10 were injured. Whereas six guests noticed fire from the fifth floor of the hotel and managed to escape to adjacent Yatri Inn Hotel and alerted the authorities. Another guest Jayanth K aged 39 from Banglore is in ICU in Apollo Hospital and is critical.

The deceased have been identified as Alladi Harish, 33, of Vijayawada; Seetharaman Swamy, 48, from Chennai; Veerender Kumar Devakar, 50, from Delhi; Balaji Navaneetha Krishnan, 58, auditor of Achi Masala Food Pvt Ltd in Chennai; Rajeev Malik and Sandeep Malik from Pitampura, New Delhi; Chandan Jethi from Cuttack, Odisha; and Mithali Mahapatra, 29, from Santhasarapur village in Odisha’s Balasor.

First responders grappled with thick smoke when reached to spot and managed to rescue few persons using ladders. Six persons rescued unconscious. They had collapsed near staircase due to smoke inhalation. All e-bikes were gutted in fire.

Narendra Modi, PM has expressed his grief over the incident and declared that Rs 2 lakh from PMNRF would be paid to the kin of each deceased and Rs. 50,000 would be paid to injured.

Meanwhile, MM Ali, Home Minster of Talengana announced Rs 3 lakh ex gratia to deceased.

A case has been registered against the owners under IPC section 304 (II) & 324 & section 9 B of Explosive Act, 1884.

Fire incidents have been ringing bell so loudly to our deafening ears of system and society. If we do not act even now more lives will be at risk. This is not the first case recently in UP hotel fire claimed 4 lives.
