18 lives lost in another Hospital Fire incident at Baruch, Gujrat

In another horrific hospital fire incident at The Welfare Hospital in Baruch district claiming at least eighteen people including two nurses are reported to be dead.

The fire broke out at the ICU section. At the time of incident there were 27 patients in the ICU. Locals there broke glass windows and rescued the patients. Patients were shifted to other hospitals.

Chief minister Vijay Rupani coming in action, appointed two senior bureaucrats  who rushed to Baruch for an enquiry. He also declared that a judicial probe would also be conducted. He also announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 4 lakh to the families of victims. He also expressed his grief on the incident.

Expressing condolences Prime Minister Narendra Modi said “Pained by the loss of lives due to a fire at a hospital in Bharuch. Condolences to the bereaved families.”

The fire broke out at 1 am in the hospital. 27 patients were present and some of them were on ventilators. The reason of fire is believed short circuit which might have led to the blaze while patients were sleeping.

Hospital staff tried to rescue patients on ventilators and locals gathered having noticed fire rescued other patients.

After incident was reported to fire brigade, fire tenders were pressed into action and blaze was brought under control within half-an-hour.
