Exasperated time of pandemic & ticking time for self employed and small business     

Unimagined, unheard pandemic has struck the world with its ferocity. The savagery of pandemic can be ascribed with the fact that the entire world came to a halt. No movement whatsoever. Life was at stake. No one knew from where & how the cold claws of death will grab. Disease was unknown to the mankind. Scientists, doctors, politicians, and strategists around the world clueless & bewildered what has to be done?

Economy which comes on priority for nations had become no matter of concern. Everybody was perplexed and busy fighting Covid 19 in whatever manner one could. The wheel of business stopped for many. Only related businesses with Medicare etc. were functioning. This has impacted world’s economy adversely.  Businesses disrupted across the globe. Day to day business activities hampered like anything or restricted to minimal activities.

When the first wave was considered to have passed, businesses were trying to turn its’ wheel, all of sudden second wave with all its ferocity hit back. The prolonged exasperated times has started taking a toll on businesses. Especially small business came under tremendous pressure. No support for them from any quarter in terms of any financial assistance, no relaxation whatsoever.

Shrinking earnings and mounting expenses mingled with uncertainty have brought highest degree of disgruntled times for many. But the pertinent question remains how to survive in petrifying times?

“If you cannot change the direction of wind adjust your sails” is the crux of the solution. This has been demonstrated by one of my known SME business owner. His mainline business was not brisk in first wave but he hoped it to get better in some time.

Prolonged pandemic situation further affected his business and it was reduced to minimum. Anxiety and uncertainty kept him awake for nights and to make the matter worse he is heart patient. He kept on thinking on his problem his mind blew up without any conclusion.

One fine day it crossed his mind that situations ca not be changed but best way is to find best suited solution. As solution he thought to pick up few Covid essential products which can be marketed to his repertory of clients.  Then he tied up with some manufacturers and importers with related product range and started talking to his business associates. Interested clients gave him order. He acted as a mediator and took his cut initially and later he procured some materials as well as per demand.

When I asked him about his new venture he said that it is not permanent solution just intermediary fixation to avoid stress. I am waiting for time to change and I get start with my core business line. Second I have earning though small but yes it helps,

He is true. This is not permanent solution but helps him duly first to manage stress level & even small earning smells good.

I am of an opinion that the government should also come with concrete plan for self employed & micro business so that they can be revived. These are the units of business who create lot of employment on grass hood level. They are also foundation stones of “Atmnirbar Bharat” conceived by our honorable Prime Minister.

We sincerely hope that the government and other related bodies will consider the need of hour and effectively lend its best helping hand to these small but essential units. One fine day if nurtured properly these building stone will grow big to add up to the economy and strengthening the nation further.

Last but not least self employed, Small enterprises are fighting situation with best of their capability but danger is big armor is weak. I again urge government to armor them further to survive.
